Plan-ish Privacy Policy
Android application Plan-ish (com.jrafael.gerestracker),

In short. Plan-ish has no accounts, no advertising, and collects nothing about you for us. There is no Plan-ish server: your trips, your recorded route and everything you write stay on your phone.
During an active trip the app uses your location — including when it is in the background or the screen is locked — to record the route and detect arrivals. That record does not leave the phone.
Who we are
Plan-ish is developed and published by Jrafa. For any question about privacy or about your data, the contact address is at the bottom of this page.
What stays on your phone only
All of this is stored in a database inside the application itself. It is not sent to any server, ours or a third party's, and we have no access to it:
- your trips, plans, days and stops;
- the recorded GPS route of a trip;
- arrival and departure times, whether detected or entered by you;
- packing lists, participants and responsibilities;
- your saved places and trip ideas;
- notes, descriptions and photographs attached to a stop;
- your settings, including any service keys you configured.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. We hold no copy and have nothing to restore.
Location
While a trip is running
When you start a trip, and only after you allow it, Plan-ish accesses your location in order to:
- record the route of the trip;
- automatically detect when you arrive at and leave each stop;
- update the predicted times for the stops ahead;
- show where you are relative to the plan.
This can happen while the app is in the background or closed, on phones where Android permits it. That is why Plan-ish asks for "allow all the time" location access: without it the route would stop being recorded the moment you switched apps or locked the screen, which is exactly when you are travelling.
While this is active, Android shows a persistent Plan-ish notification. Tracking stops when you finish the trip, and does not restart on its own.
Precision
The app uses both approximate and precise location. Precise location is needed to tell apart arrivals at places close to one another.
What happens to the record
The recorded route and your current position stay on the phone. They are not sent to any server, not used for advertising, not shared with third parties and not sold. The estimate of time remaining to the next stop is computed on the device, without sending your position to anyone.
One exception you should know about
If you use the option to save a stop at your current position, those coordinates become part of your plan like any other stop. From then on, and only if you request weather, travel times, the map or photographs for that stop, those coordinates are sent to the services listed below — exactly as they would be for a stop you had typed in by hand.
If you decline
The app keeps working. Without background access, tracking works only while the app is open. Without any location access, the trip works as a plan and you mark arrivals by hand. The app tells you what is reduced rather than failing silently.
External services
Some features need information that is not on the phone. For those, Plan-ish contacts the services below. What is sent is coordinates of stops in your plan, or text you typed into a search — never the recorded route and never your real-time position.
| Service | What is sent | When |
|---|---|---|
| Open-Meteo | a stop's coordinates and dates | weather for a stop |
| Google Maps | the map area to display | when you open the map |
| Google Routes | coordinates of two stops | measured travel time |
| Google Places | search text or a place identifier | details about a place |
| Geoapify | stop coordinates | map image and routing |
| OpenRouteService | coordinates of two stops | travel time, using your own key |
| Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) | search text, or coordinates to turn into an address | searching for a place |
| Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons | a place's name or coordinates | freely licensed photographs |
| GitHub | nothing about you | checking for and downloading updates |
Each of these services has its own privacy policy and receives your IP address, as happens with any internet connection. Plan-ish sends them no identifier of yours, because it holds none.
The version installed from the Google Play Store does not contact GitHub: updates are handled by the Play Store itself.
When you are the one sending
Plan-ish can export a trip (JSON, CSV, GPX, Markdown) and, in test builds, export a diagnostic report. These files may contain coordinates, and a report may include a screenshot.
None of it is sent to us. The file is saved to the folder you choose, or handed to the app you choose in Android's share sheet. Where it goes after that is your decision.
What does not exist
- No accounts and no sign-in. We do not know who you are.
- No advertising, and no data used for advertising.
- No analytics, no usage measurement and no automatic crash reporting.
- We do not sell or share data with third parties for commercial purposes.
- There is no Plan-ish server where your data could be.
Children
Plan-ish is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from minors. As no personal data is collected on our side, we hold no information about minors.
Your data and your rights
The data is on your phone and under your direct control. You can export it at any time, delete a trip inside the app, or delete everything by clearing the app's data in Android settings or uninstalling it.
As we neither receive nor store personal data of yours, we have nothing to access, correct or delete on request. If you have questions about this, write to us.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour changes in a way that alters what is described here, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
